fluMRSA – Pandemic?
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is fear that a deadly combination of the flu and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is to blame for the deaths of many American children and could lead to a pandemic.
Reports state that out of the 74 children who died in the U.S. in 2006 and 2007, 22 of them also has staph infections – many being MRSA.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is working with researchers to try and figure out how to monitor and track fluMRSA cases.
Health officials believe that flu prevention also leads to the prevention of staph infection, MRSA..
